Cannabis Dispensary

Located on the former site of a 1950s Chinese restaurant, this proposal for a cannabis dispensary in South Los Angeles draws inspiration from the neighborhood's postwar housing boom and its transition away from agricultural roots. The design incorporates a corrugated metal exterior, chosen for its affordability, industrial aesthetic, and ability to conceal the operations of the newly legalized business. The metal is used in varied orientations, creating a dynamic and textured façade that remains quiet along the street, respecting the surrounding context. The façade perpendicular to the street opens up with large, inviting windows, signaling a welcoming entry for customers. The project aims to respectfully integrate into its historical and cultural context while adapting to the needs of a newly burgeoning business.
