Other Places

Other Places is a site-specific architectural installation at Art Omi Sculpture Park. Designed as a sunken room carved into the earth, the installation invites visitors to engage in quiet contemplation or to interact with others within its intimate space. Made from earth and flora, it presents architecture in its purest, most organic form, blurring the boundaries between built space and natural surroundings.

The experience of Other Places evolves throughout the day and across seasons, as light, weather, and human touch continuously transform the space. As visitors leave their marks on the organic surfaces, over time the sharp edges of the installation will erode, returning to the earth—a physical embodiment of memory, impermanence, and the passage of time. This architectural folly serves as both a refuge and a reflection on the cycles of nature.

Other Places was made possible by the generous support of Elise Jaffe + Jeffrey Brown and the Yale School of Architecture.
