Black Rock City Airport

This proposal for an airport in Black Rock City, Nevada, the site of the annual Burning Man Festival, envisions a modular steel armature with scaffolding clamp connections for effortless assembly and disassembly. Infilled with gauzy tensile fabric, the structure adapts to create varied interior spaces. Its design opens northward for daylight while shielding the south. Though simple in form, its modularity offers endless spatial permutations. A short stop-motion animation feature was developed for this proposal, starting with airplanes overhead and transitioning into a whimsical scene of animals and flying balloons.
